This Saturday June 23rd!
Heats 6:00pm
Main Events 7:15pm

Our partner at Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse in San Dimas and Colton….. LOVES racing, and we thank him and his wife for his support of Willow Springs all these years.

This Saturday the Pinnacle Peak divisions are highlighted by the INEX Legends and Bandoleros National Qualifier. Confirmed teams coming in from neighboring States will ensure this is a battle for the coveted National Champion invites to Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Bandolero’s and The “Bullring” at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for Legends. This is a BIG deal in the to these drivers as they fight for positions in the INEX National Point Standings as well as ours.

What will June 23thbring? Who will walk away with the trophies and fame of winning a National Qualifer? ………You’ll have to be there next Saturday to see it LIVE….in person!

Palmdale’s #98 Chris Peedan posted his first win of 2018, making the pass on Lancaster’s #88 Ryan Rawlings on lap 8, and running to his first victory of 2018.

Leona Valley’s #77 Alex Anderson finished a strong second to Peedan after a brutal May race or him. Anderson becomes your 2018 point leader by a slim 3 points with Lancasters #05 Randy Wilkins hot on the trail for his first win of the season. Wilkins posted a solid third in the event, and moved him to 2nd in the point standings.

Santa Clarita’s #25 Justin Good will be looking to rebound after a very tough race losing 2 spots in the standings. Speaking with Good this week, he said we found the problem and expect him to be strong this coming Saturday June 23rd.

Your top 5 from June 9th

1.) #98 Chris Peedan
2.) #77 Alex Anderson
3.) #05 Randy Wilkins
4.) #88 Ryan Rawlings
5.) #14 Kenny Kranzler

Will Anderson extend his lead, can Wilkins claim his first victory of the season? And don’t forget the hot Chris Peedan who will be looking to repeat, or Simi Valley’s Kenny Kranzler searching for his first win as well!

All these questions will be answered this Saturday Night June 23rd!

We are all thrilled here at Willow Springs to announce our latest Partner joining the Racing Family is Bobby Waynes RV of Lancaster. Our good friends at Bobby Waynes picked one of our most popular and exciting divisions. Formerly the Hobby Stock class, this division consistently produces exciting racing from Green to Checkered.

As we predicted, the bad luck finally took a vacation from multi-time Champion, Lancaster’s #44 Johnny Troesch, as he rebounded with a resounding victory on June 9th. Starting 4thon the field, and with a little help from Antelope Acres #25 Brady Mertz who had some trouble, and that was all Troesch needed to sail to his first win of 2018.

The returning 24K of Apple Valley’s Hannah Blalock started on the pole, but Mertz coming from the outside front row quickly made it by coming by the leader after lap 1. Blalock had a
solid race returning after a long break with a 4thplace finish in the event.

Lancaster’s #38 Brandon Fisk had a successful “come back” race after a tough June 9th, staying with the leaders and finishing in 3rd. Fisk is just two points back of Troesch in the point standings for 2ndspot. Mertz has a comfortable 16 point lead at this point, but this season is FAR from over!

1.) #44 Johnny Troesch
2.) #25 Brady Mertz
3.) #39 Brandon Fisk
4.) #24K Hannah Blalock
5.) #4 Cole Hines
6.) #55 Jim Barnhart
7.) #72 Terry Williams

Now that Troesch has found his rhythm, will he close the gap this week? Will Mertz keep him at bay? Or how about Mr. Fisk coming back for another win? And there’s always #55 Jim Barnhart, #4 Cole Hines and #72 Terry Williams looking for their first wins of the season.

It was the story of two different #71’s. Antelope Acres #71 Michael Williams and #71t of Barstow’s Tony Provenzano. First winning the Heat Race Williams showed he can stay out front of the rest of the Camaro’s in the field with his Nova. And the Main Event started in just the same way with Williams leading every lap.

But the smoke started early from Williams car, and unfortunately worsened as the race progressed. By lap 15 the cars behind were driving through an ever thickening smoke screen trying to get to the leader. Officials were forced to take Williams off on lap 19 with Provenzano now inheriting the lead.

Barstow’s #71t Tony Provenzano was definitely owed one after just the slightest miss at our May event, and lost that checkered flag just in his grasp. Well he did not miss this time and won his first feature race at The Speedway at Willow Springs on June 9th.

Lancaster’s #57 Jerry Baxter continued his improvement posting his best finish of the season so far with a runner up spot. We spoke with Jerry a few weeks ago and feels he has the car to put it in the winners circle this season by just staying consistent and hitting those marks.

Blythe’s #30 Dwight Kelly had a solid points race, staying well out in front of Provenzano for the 2018 championship. #61 Robert Witwer was able to get in front of Kelly on the start, and raced Kelly hard for the position (as he should!). Ultimately Kelly prevailed, but not without losing precious time to catch the leaders.

In a separate race at the same time, we had Hot Stocks rolling as well. Ridgecrest’s #61 Robert Witwer vs. Oak Hills #35 Bruce Secord. Witwer held a good lead while battling Kelly for position, so Secord never had a good shot at the leader and had to settle for 2ndon this run. Secord had won our previous race back in May for his first win of the season closing the points gap. Witwer and Secord both earned the same amount of points this race, so Witwer holds his lead in the Hot Stocks over Secord by a tiny 6 points.

2.) #57 Jerry Baxter
3.) #30 Dwight Kelly
4.) #71 Michael Williams

2.) Bruce Secord

Well the streak had to end at some point, but it was a lot earlier and uglier than Beaumont’s #22 John Sereika wanted for sure. He was not only fast qualifier, but then added the heat race as well, bagging the extra 6 bonus points for a good start to the day. But when it came to the Main Event, his run ended on lap 1 during a melee after taking he green. Sereika however still holds a solid lead over San Bernardino’s #42 Cary Cecil for the 2018 Championship.

10 Lucas Oil Mini Stocks took the first green, but we lost 3 in the turn 1 altercation. Now restarting the race, San Bernardino’s #3 Gerald Lair led the early laps until #42 Cecil found his way by on lap 7. Yucapia’s #06 David Heusterberg, who was making his first visit to Willow Springs this season, was sitting in the third spot biding his time while the laps clicked off. Third in current points #04 Stanley Youngblood sat right behind Heusterberg in the early going.

Everything was going smooth until lap 16 as the leaders came together causing our first and only yellow. Heusterberg inherited the lead with Youngblood, Rio Linda’s #32 Tony Caputo, and Cecil dropped into 4thspot. Caputo and Cecil traded positions a number of times with Caputo ultimately claiming P3, but our front two leaders checked out on them cruising to the checkers. Heusterberg posted his first win of 2018, and was a very strong points night for Youngblood in 2ndplace. Youngblood has now closed to within 2 points of Cecil for 2ndspot on the board.

1.) #06 David Heusterberg
2.) #04 Stanley Youngblood
3.) #32 Tony Caputo
4.) #42 Cary Cecil
5.) #3 Gerald Lair
6.) #2 Joe Fernandez

#15 Mike Waters, #22 John Sereika, #7 Nick Higginson.

Will Sereika rebound? Will Youngblood push his way into 2ndspot? Or will it be someone new? Caputo, Lair, and Fernandez will all be battling hard for that first win this season!

BE THERE THIS SATURDAY to see the next chapter unfold!

The second of our two new permanent divisions are the 51Fifty Energy Drink Sport Compacts. We were looking for a middle step from So-Cal Enduro toward the upper divisions and the SC fits that bill perfectly. Still an extremely low budget division to run (cars complete can be built for right around $1,500), it’s a chance to run our full track without the chicane. We think it will be a quickly growing division with it’s higher speeds, yet still cost effective starting point for racers hitting the track for the first time.

And don’t forget….

“Wayne and Dave’s Automotive” Mini Dwarfs Return along with…

“The Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse” Bandolero’s

What’s New @ Willow Springs?

Hot Stocks – A new division for dirt style cars out of Bakersfield, Perris, Ventura, Barona, and Santa Maria, many for their first ever time on asphalt. We keep reading about new cars coming to join the fun, add in the flavor of drivers who are used to racing on dirt, this is going to be one exciting division to enjoy in 2018!

INEX  –  We are very happy to announce we will be an INEX sanctioned track for the 2018 season. Both Legends and Bandolero’s can come earn National Points throughout the season. We are expecting a healthy turnout of Bando’s coming out of the Bakersfield area, and looking for some exciting racing from tomorrow’s future racing stars!

$4,000 to win So-Cal Enduro August 11th!

National Enduro Event –  This is gonna be BIG! We are thrilled to announce a $4,000 to win 300 Lap Enduro scheduled for August 11, 2018.

We are receiving calls from as far away as Washington for details on what is destined to be a landmark event for Willow Springs. Build a car for $1,000, race for $4,000. Racing doesn’t see math like that every day!…;). And, we are hoping those cars are added to our Enduro and Sport Compact divisions both before and after the 4K event adding to our competitor levels as an added bonus. We are starting as many cars as show up. If it’s 125, then all 125 start the race.

This is gonna be fun!

Please also keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter pages for Driver Profiles, Race Day Schedule, and more information as we close in on the start of the season.

There is NO better deal in the Antelope Valley for entertainment this Saturday!
