More “First Evers” at Willow Springs, “The Little Bristol of the West”.

Thank you Miss Mary Secord for the Photo.

Do you love all the action of Stock Car Racing at Bristol Motor Speedway? Well come on out to Willow Springs this Saturday August 10th,

“We Are……Bristol in your Backyard”.

We have another night of Action and Fun planned in our 2013 season. THIS Saturday night August 10th will be a night of Firsts, maybe Lasts, some Fun Stuff, and lots of Action in our point battles as we thunder into the last half of our season. Racing begins at 7pm.

Point races are tight in almost all our divisions as the leaders eye the Championship run to the checkered. Late Models, Street Stocks, Hobby Stocks, Mini Stocks, and Bombers are all on the menu. Add “Around the Flagpole”, Wolfpack Figure 8 Match Race, Ego Challenge, and the “Diva Dash for Cash” (you’ll have to keep reading to figure that one out!….lol) for our fun stuff.

Once again we end the night with Barrel Blast Off. If you sit in the front row, you “may/will” get wet! And if you want to get wet on purpose, we will have the Dunk Tank rolled out along with a Bounce House for the kids. All of that for $10 Adults, Kids 8 and under are Free. Parking Free. Optional Tail Gate spots are only $5.

The 2013 race season is being presented by GIRT Promotions.

Another First Ever in our 2013 season is “Around the Flagpole” racing. Admittedly I haven’t seen this on the West Coast myself, or I’m sure we would have “borrowed” (stolen) the concept by now. Don Oatley in our Hobby Stock class described this to us, and my initial reaction was “Huh, are you kidding”?

It’s a Round-A Bout with racecars, two of them. Imagine two Figure 8’s down the front and back straightaways, that meet at an intersection. You then are maneuvering around the incoming cars to get to the next turn? Kinda crazy, but I like it!

Sure sounded like fun to us, so we said, “Let’s DO IT!” It’s going to be10 laps of well …….mayhem. This fun event will be an Open Competition Free for All. If you own a race prepared vehicle, come on out and have some fun!

Around the Flagpole race for the first time ever at The Speedway at Willow Springs this Saturday August 10th. ONLY at Willow Springs!

Here’s a web link to check out the action from another track. Enjoy the craziness….

Ego Challenge RETURNS! Dormant since Saugus Speedway closed, Ego Challenge returns to Willow Springs! Race your personal car (No do not borrow your best friends car!….lol) on our tight ¼ mile against the clock. We will have three divisions PLUS a race car hauler run off. 8, 6, and 4 cylinder classes will run for the win. Spots are very limited for this division, and you must sign up in advance of August 10th.

If you would like to compete in the Event, please send us an email here with Name, Division, and Phone.

Points races remained tight after our July 20th event, and the excitement continues to build heading toward the Championships. Those not in the lead will be pulling out the stops to catch and pass the leaders heading toward the final turns of 2013.

In our Late Models Jared King holds just a razor thin 2 point margin over previous Champion Chris Peedan, with Randy Wilkins, his eyes on the leaders, close behind in third. All three have a shot to win it all.

PJ Hernandez is just 6 markers ahead of Brandon Fisk in the Bomber division, with Shelby Oatley holding third in her rookie season. Pj and Brandon have been trading the lead in the points all season, so Brandon looks to recapture it this Saturday. Be there to see if he pulls it off!

Steve Patterson had some tough breaks last race, and is still chasing Jim Holland for the Championship in Mini Stocks. Jim took advantage and opened up a 14 point lead in the standings. But with still 4 races to go, anything can happen. Steve looking for big points gains this weekend.

In Street Stocks Dylan Buxton is our point leader, but by only by a hair as Will Cottrell is just 2 points out. Our previous Champion, Bobby Dezarov, who is only 9 points behind Cottrell, still has plenty of time to catch the leaders. Dezarov also has a shot to win the Championship at Irwindale Speedway this season as he does the Double. Lots of action in the division last race, and promises to be this week as well as the point leaders fight hard for championships.

Don Oatley leads our Hobby Stock class with strong passes to the outside all season having made the difference, as he leads the division by 24 points. Second in points Johnny Troesch is strategizing ways to close the gap on Oatley, still with plenty of time to catch the leader with 4 races to go. But Troesch better not look back as DJ Jeffrey is only 6 points behind and closing fast. Gonna get interesting this Saturday!

Brandon Fisk from the Team known as The Wolfpack came to us with an idea a few weeks ago for a match race among the team. Who is the Wolfpack? It is drivers Richard Wolfe, Joseph Pablo, Brandon Fisk, and Richard Wolfe Sr. Sounded awesome, but how about doing it on the Figure 8 track? The boys were ALL IN on this one. So the Wolfpack will go head to head, door to door for 10 laps of who knows what! They are primed and ready to dice it up Figure 8 style in the intersection just for the fans. There is no doubt there will be tire burning, fender slamming, door rubbing action to prove WHO REALLY IS #1 of the Wolf Pack. Don’t Miss It!!!

Also on our Fun List is “The Diva Dash for Cash”. Get ready to cover the kids eyes with this one, really kinda just scares me just thinking about it. This will either be fun, or it will be “something else”….lol. This “race” will involve costumes, scooters, a ton of coins, a water barrel, and unveiling our first Skid Plate car to roll across our racetrack EVER nicknamed “Tinkerbell” (you will understand “why” when you see her), who will join field for the Diva Dash for Cash. And it could well involve our promoters, Debbie and Stacie, as part of the fun, you will just have to wait and see. For sure (and for good reason…lol) you will see this nowhere else but The Speedway at Willow Springs this Saturday night August 10th.

What do some Tail Gating? Throw your own personal party while watching the action for just $5 per vehicle. That is another feature of our 1/4 mile oval that you can not get just about anywhere else. Our guests can enjoy the action from the comfort of your car should you choose. Our prime spots are very limited, so get there early for the best locations. We also have a large amount of grandstand seating for the full experience as well with free parking.

As an added bonus you can’t get anywhere else, your $10 adult ticket gives you a wristband for the entire weekend of events. Arrive early and enjoy the Mini Moto USA bikes on the Kart Track. Then come have fun with us at the ¼ mile Saturday night. And if you still haven’t had enough, come on back Sunday for even more Mini Moto USA. Yes, a complete weekend of racing entertainment for only $10!

Can you name a better bargain?

Yes, we can. Have an RV? Stay the night for no extra charge (dry camp) and enjoy Sunday’s events as well. Hookups are available at the road course area for a small extra charge. Contact (661) 256-2471 for reservations.
