We only have 4 races to go in our 2015 season and the point battles are still tightening and changing as we roll into the last half of the season. If you aren’t in the top 3, it’s desperation time and throwing everything you have at it. If you are in the top 3 do you protect your leads, or lay it all out? Everyone wants a championship and we have 5 divisions going for it this Saturday!

And the wins keep coming for point leader #30 John Penning as he eyes the 2015 Championship for the Elite Division at Willow Springs. Back in June he extended his point lead with his 4th win in a row. But Randy Wilkins #05 is gaining ground with the new car and closing in on #77 Alex Anderson for 2nd in points, now just 5 points behind Anderson. Wilkins challenged Penning numerous times for the lead, but Penning held him off at the end. Will someone else take the trophy this Saturday? Will Randy Wilkins surpass Anderson for 2nd and close on Penning? You will have to be there this Saturday to find out! Expected to return this weekend is Anthony and or Logan Mainella of Hoopers Rear End Service to the field. We welcome Hoopers Rear End Service to our growing list of 2015 sponsors!

We answered the question back on June 27th with #88 Don Oatley prevailing over Johnny Troesch’s back to back wins in the Pinnacle Peak Hobby Stock division. It was a very good night for Oatley as he also passed the most cars and earned the most points for the evening. As a result, Oatley has a slim 7 point margin going into this weekend.

#79 Joseph Pablo rebounded with a solid third place finish back in June, and is back on track with solid finishes and the bad luck hopefully behind him. Third in points #39 Brandon Fisk is just a few points ahead of Wolf Pack team mate Joseph Pablo and #38 Steven Parker in 4th. Both are looking for wins this season, and this weekend might just be it. A strong finish by Pablo or Parker, and they right back into the point battle.

#28 Shelby Oatley was back in the drivers seat in June, and finished a solid 4th after time off for school events. #71 is normally driven by Michael Williams. Michael was off adding to his family that weekend, but Justin Good gave it a solid run leading the first half of the race.

Will Troesch or Oatley come out with the point lead this weekend? You’ll have to be there LIVE to find out.

Only at Willow Springs this Saturday!!

ONE single point still separates father and son in the Lucas Oil Mini Stocks. But the positions switched after the last race as son #76 Richard Connors overtook #11 Dale Connors for the point lead. #68 John Dunlap is third in points with #77 Nick Higginson and #19 Greg Didoha as your top 5. It was the first visit for the #19 of Didoha and showed a strong car challenging the Connors early in the event.

Who will come out with the point lead this weekend?

Back before our Summer break, #11 Will Cottrell had missed a race due to work conflicts. We guess he used that time to get his car even faster as he took his first Main Event win of 2015 with a solid finish over two strong competitors in #25 Justin Good and #84 Don Oatley.

The point lead is now just 2 points toward Oatley as he finished 2nd in the 30 lap main event on June 27th. Cottrell is just 11 points back of second and closing. #18 PJ Hernandez is expected to return after heavy damage in the early June event with his brand new car. We’re looking forward to seeing the gorgeous #18 back on track!

Will Justin Good respond with a win, will Hernandez put the new car into the winners circle? We will know this Saturday, ONLY at Willow Springs.

For those that haven’t seen them, we take the back wheels of the race car off, put flat plates on, and turn em loose. Some of you may remember this as “Fast Food Tray Fun” when you were younger. You “borrow” a tray from a fast food place, and put them under your back wheels with the emergency brake on. Created by our friends at Irwindale Speedway, this division is just pure fun.
#41 Corey Carter scored a win back in June and looks to close on dad #42 Jon Carter for the Championship. Jon finished second to son Corey this time, but we are thinking Jon won’t let that happen again. Mom Angel Carter also had a top 3 finish, so the top 3 spots were all Carter. Which Carter will it be this week, or someone else? This Saturday at Willow Springs.

The Kids Big Wheel race will get some nice prizes once again. A ride in the pace car, or throwing the green flag for a heat race. We will also have a Kids Kandy Scramble during the evening.

We would like to warmly welcome Hoopers Rear Ends as presenting sponsor for the balance of the season. Thank you Anthony and Ryan at Hoopers from the Willow Springs Family.

This is a feature found at only a few race tracks in the entire Country. Throw your own personal party while watching the action at our ¼ mile for just $5 per vehicle. If you’d like a reserved Tail Gate spot for the season, they are only $80 for all 9 events. Arrive and leave when you please, the spot is yours on race days.

Have an RV? Stay the night for no extra charge (dry camp) and enjoy Sunday’s events as well. Hookups are available at the road course area for a small extra charge. Contact (661) 256-2471 for reservations.

Our 2015 season features nine events including Destruction in the Desert in September. We are going to absolutely DESTROY some stuff and can’t wait to get started. We just came out of a planning session with a few of the teams out of Perris Speedway, and we are going to have some big time FUN!!!

Our 1/4 mile oval is part of the eight race tracks and 600 acres that make up Willow Springs International Raceway. Internationally recognized since 1953 as among the most prestigious in the World, and as of 1996, a California State Historical Landmark. Michael Andretti, Tommy Kendall, Derrick Cope, and Nigel Mansell all hold track records at the facility.

Here is a little more detail on two terrific features you cannot get anywhere else. Once you are in the front gates, your ticket is good for the entire weekend of racing for the road course events on the grounds, in addition to our Saturday night event. The 2.5 mile Fastest Road in the West which features dramatic elevation changes, and the infamous Turn 9 with speeds approaching 200 mph. The Streets of Willow Springs, and The Horse Thief Mile, also have events just about every weekend through the year. Hangout in the pits, talk with the drivers, and get some terrific pictures. Also, there is the WSIR gift shop and full snack bar open every weekend. Take a drive up to the Budweiser Balcony and enjoy an incredible view of the Antelope Valley as well.

The second feature of our 1/4 mile oval that you can not get just about anywhere else is Tail Gating. ($5 nominal charge per vehicle) Our guests can enjoy the action from the comfort of your car should you choose. Our prime spots are very limited, so get there early for the best locations. We also have a large amount of grandstand seating for the full experience as well with FREE parking.

Our Saturday Night divisions will feature the best stock car drivers in the region as they compete for the 2015 Championship. The 4 cylinder Mini-Stocks, The Hobby and Street Stocks, and our premier division Wayne and Dave’s Late Models will be charging hard for the 2015 Championship. We had a number of new teams at practice, come out to see how they stack-up against our seasoned veterans. Get ready for some old school side by side stock car racing like it used to be. Full inverts, Restart Cone side by side yellow flag restarts, (where the drivers can pick inside or outside line). We are gonna change it up and have some fun!

Other fun events are in the planning stages, and will be announced throughout the season.
