Green Flag 6:00pm

BRING IT!……….RACE #5!!!

After a well earned break after our June event, it’s time to take the Green once again this Saturday August 12th! We have a huge night of racing lined up for you, and some fun stuff as well.

Figure 8 returns for the rest of the 2017 Season sponsored by Mirror Image Audio. It will be an Open Competition event with just about any race car that wants to take part on our wild and fast Figure 8 course. It is said we have one of the best Figure 8 layouts in the Country, come see some crazy action in the Intersection this Saturday! ONLY at The Speedway at Willow Springs!

High Desert Hobbies So-Cal Enduro 50!

You won’t see action like this anywhere else this weekend as our So-Cal Enduro teams take to the track in a BIG 50 lap Event! We pretty much see a different winner every time So-Cal hits the track, and expect no different this time.
Our last race we saw first time winner #169 Ken Lukaszonas roll into the winners circle, who will it be this week!

June 24th your top 5 in So-Cal Enduro were….

#169 Ken Lukaszonas
#06 Stanley Youngblood
#49 Ken Iannalfo Jr.
#26 Keith Murphy
#25 Brady Mertz
#06 Stanley Youngblood is your current point leader by 12, but the Iannalfo’s father and son team are hot on his trail, both just a few points back. Lots of racing to go, so it’s anyone’s championship!

The So-Cal Enduro continues to produce the craziest action on every race night. Not to be missed at Willow Springs this Saturday!!!

After a rough start early in the season, Redlands Tony Forfa IV #34 roared back with a win and huge points night at Willow Springs Event #4 closing to within a handful of Lancaster’s Logan Mainella #33 for the 2017 Hoopers Rear Ends Championship. These are definitely two to watch closely this weekend.

It’s a Late Model vs. a Modified, who will it be?

Palmdale’s Chris Peedan #98 returned to the field with a very fast qualifying time, 2nd only to Forfa. Peedan had a very good first night back finishing 3rd behind Mainella as they tweak the new car.

Just back in 4th last race Leona Valley’s always fast Alex Anderson #77, Alex is overdue for a win, so look for the #77 to pressure the front this week.

And “the grapevine” has a new Late Model entering our Elite fray this week just to keep things interesting and throwing a big question mark to our point leaders.

Either Forfa IV or Mainella will be your point leader coming out, who is it going to be?????

You can’t miss this one Saturday night!

June 24th Top 5 Results were….

1.) #34 Tony Forfa IV
2.) #33 Logan Mainella
3.) #98 Chris Peedan
4.) #77 Alex Anderson

5.) #6 Ryan Rawlings

The battle still rages between Santa Clarita’s #25 Justin Good and Redland’s #34 Tony Forfa for the 2017 Platinum Jewelry & Loan Street Stock Championship. These two have traded wins (and paint) the past few events and are now TIED in points. Forfa again captured the win last time out, and we all know Justin is just never going to let that stand. Look for more paint to be traded between these two this Saturday battling for points!

This has been simmering for quite awhile now between two of our Platinum Jewelry and Loan Street Stock drivers, and it came to a raging boil in June with tempers flaring in the pits. Lancaster’s Jerry Baxter #57x vs Lancaster’s Ray Butler #57.

So, we came up with an idea to settle it.

Butler v. Baxter for the right to the #57! Much to our confusion, these two decided to switch numbers this year, with Baxter currently carrying the X and Butler the 57. (opposite from last season) Talk about confusion in Scoring!

Quite frankly, these two DO NOT like each other… all. And neither of them want the X on their number. So, we are going to settle this one ON the racetrack during our closing night October 21st.

Butler vs. Baxter in our two Demo Cars for the right to own the #57 for 2018 and beyond. Whoever wins, owns the number for as long as they choose to race with us.
Or, based on the last race, they just might choose to settle it during the race this weekend? You’ll have to be there this Saturday, so you don’t want to miss this.

We warmly welcome Sterile Pros as the newest Partner and Sponsor to the Willow Springs Racing family.

A super thin margin remains for Lancaster’s Johnny Troesch #44 over Quartz Hills Michael Williams #71 with a Championship teetering in the balance. These two are always close, but it’s never been like this.

Troesch had a very rare off race back in June with a 5th place finish behind Rosamond’s Joseph Pablo #79 and Lancaster’s Steven Parker #48. All eyes are on our two point leaders as one or the other will come out of Saturday with the lead.

We welcomed Bakersfield’s Rick Childress to the division in June, and this man came here to race! It was his very first time ever on pavement, so to come in 2nd behind the #71 Williams with years of experience here, truly made a statement to the future. It may well be Childress mixing it up with our two point leaders, as he may well be the one to beat.

There will be another brutal fight for the win this Saturday. Don’t miss it!

June 24th Top 5 Results were….

#71 Michael Williams

#44x Rick Childress

#48 Steven Parker
#79 Joseph Pablo
#44 Johnny Troesch

Riverside’s Donnie Minut traveled up from his Orange Show Speedway home to challenge our Lucas Oil Mini Stock teams. And the trip was well worth it posting his first ever win as a driver! In carrying on the long So-Cal Minut Racing family tradition, we were thrilled to be a part of his first ever win along with his family.

But the celebration is now over and our reining champ Lancaster’s Greg Didoha #19 will have something to say about a repeat for Minut. And, the always strong Stanley Youngblood could be the dark horse for the win as he has shown solid improvement all season. The “grape vine” has veteran Dale Connors returning to challenge to mix it up with our front runners.

Our new driver of the #15 Robert Waters had a good clean first race coming in a solid and smooth 3rd. We know that car is extremely capable of winning, it’s only a matter of time now.

Who is it going to be this week?
Don’t miss this Saturday!

The second of our two new permanent divisions are the 51Fifty Energy Drink Sport Compacts. We were looking for a middle step from So-Cal Enduro toward the upper divisions and the SC fits that bill perfectly. Still an extremely low budget division to run (cars complete can be built for right around $1,500), it’s a chance to run our full track without the chicane. We think it will be a quickly growing division with it’s higher speeds, yet still cost effective starting point for racers hitting the track for the first time.

Keith Murphy scored back to back wins and is challenging for the Championship in the 51Fifty Energy Drink Sport Compacts. He took home his first ever win at our track in May, backed it up in June, and we are sure no one has more fun in the Winners Circle than Keith! It’s a party, and Keith brings it with him.

Look for him to return searching for another win while the Father / Son team of Ken Iannalfo Sr and Jr., Kris Clark, and Melissa Youngblood looking for their own Victory Circle celebrations this Saturday!

So we are going to try something that as far as we know has never been done before. (which we do lot of around here, much to the disdain of our Safety Team)

And, we have some much better names for it than Round A Bout Racing. But we don’t want to scare the drivers away, so we are going to temporarily name it with an innocuous, boring, sleepy, non threatening name….Round a Bout….. Yawn.

Yes drivers, you have nothing to fear here, all is good.

Imagine Flag Pole Racing, but with one big Round A Bout on the infield for all the drivers to dodge each other. This may be a mess, disaster, and scoring nightmare, but we are going to go ahead to try it anyway!..What could possibly go wrong?….Lots……LOL.

       DON’T MISS IT!!
