This Saturday September 8th!

Heats 6:00pm
Main Events 7:15pm

Ok, we are with you. That seemed to be the LONGEST Summer break in the history of racing! But, Wait, No, More! We are back to back to back over the next few weeks featuring side by side door slamming racing at yourAntelope Valley’s own….“Bristol in Your Backyard”!

You’ll have to be there next Saturday to see it LIVE….in person!

So-Cal Enduro took our last event in June off and are locked and loaded to roll out this Saturday September 8th. Lancaster’s #169 Ken Lukaszonas came away with the win last time out, but point leader #49 Kenny Iannalfo Jr. finished right behind Lukaszonas. #84 Matt Durkee, #11 Jerry Burks, and #15 Mark Owens were your top 5 finishers all with strong nights rolling through our first test of the dirt (mud) track for November 10th $4,000 to win Enduro. We are all still wondering how Lukaszonas exited his car to take the trophy, without a spot of dirt on him?….;)

But this Saturday the 8th it’s back to racing for the points and the cash for our teams.

Points are SUPER TIGHT going into our last 3 races for the So-Cal Enduro. Ken Iannalfo Jr leads by a razor thin 2, followed by Lukaszonas. Just 2 points back from there is #44 Mike Miller. But look at this!…..#84 Matt Durkee, #58 Randy Hannah, and #42 Jon Carter are all within 9 points of the leader. Anything can and will happen! Expect some hard racing for the win this Saturday!
Consistency will be key over the last 3 events as the top 6 drivers all have a shot at the Championship!

Will it be Iannalfo to pull away, Lukaszonas to overtake the lead, Miller, or someone new with the win?

The points battle is RED HOT in the Hooper’s Rear Ends Elite Division. With a very good night back on June 23rd, Lancaster’s #05 Randy Wilkins moved into a tie with Leona Valley’s #77 Alex Anderson for the 2018 Championship.

We are neck and neck for the title!

The day started off very well for #77 Alex Anderson going into the Main Event. He had won the heat race earlier in the day picking up some valuable championship points, and with the invert, started on the pole for the main event.

Meanwhile Lancaster’s #05 Randy Wilkins was quietly preparing for his big night qualifying 2ndto Santa Clarita’s #25 Justin Good earlier in the day as well. Looking for a big points night, Wilkins settled in behind #77 Anderson as we took the green for the 40 lap main event.

Everything was going along well for #77 Anderson until Lap 9 when we went caution for the yellow between Santa Clarita’s #25 Justin Good and Palmdale’s #98 Chris Peedan.

Coming back to green on lap 10, Wilkins inherited the lead with Simi Valley’s #14 Kenny Kranzler hot on his tail in 2ndlooking for his first win. But #05 Wilkins was able to keep Kranzler at bay and maintained the lead until the caution flew on Lap 25.

The re-start enabled #77 Anderson to take advantage of a cone re-start outside of #05 Wilkins preparing us for a dramatic finish. #77 Anderson did everything he could to get in front of #05 Wilkins, but it was just not enough as the laps clicked off.

Taking the white flag Anderson had closed back on Wilkins one last time as they raced for the win. But this June evening was to be Wilkins night. He had the position and crossed the winner of our 4th“Hoopers Rear Ends” Elite event of the season. Palmdale’s #98 Chris Peedan recovered and had a solid 3rdplace finish on the podium.

       #05 Randy Wilkins   Lancaster, Ca.
#77 Alex Anderson Leona Valley, Ca.
       #98 Chris Peedan  Palmdale, Ca.
#14 Kenny Kranzler Simi Valley, Ca.
#25 Justin Good  Santa Clarita, Ca.

THIS SATURDAY September 8th#77 Anderson and #05 Wilkins will face off for the points lead. Who will come out on top of the leader board as they battle for precious points? And don’t forget about multi time champion Chris Peedan who is lurking not far behind as well. Just a little luck, he will be right in the thick of it as well.

#14 Kenny Kranzler and #25 Justin Good will be looking to upset the two front runners and post their own victories. Kranzler and Good are both looking for big nights coming off the Summer break.

This will all be unfolding this Saturday September 8th…..DON’T MISS IT!

We are all thrilled here at Willow Springs to announce our latest Partner joining the Racing Family is Bobby Waynes RV of Lancaster. Our good friends at Bobby Waynes picked one of our most popular and exciting divisions. Formerly the Hobby Stock class, this division consistently produces exciting racing from Green to Checkered.

And it was no different on June 23rdas a large invert produced a spectacular race in the “Bobby Wayne’s RV” American Stocks.

Lancaster’s #11 Rod Sproule started on the pole alongside Lancaster’s #55 James Barnhart outside as we came to green for the 30 lap Main Event. #11 Sproule led the very early going but Lancaster’s #39 Brandon Fisk challenged quickly for the lead. Coming off his first ever win earlier in the season, it was looking very good for Fisk right out of the gate leading the first half of the event.

With our two point leaders starting at the back, so there was no time to waste as Lancaster’s #44 Johnny Troesch and Antelope Acres #25 Brady Mertz to begin slicing through the field. #25 Mertz, as the current point leader, knew what he needed to do, keep #44 Troesch behind him.

Coming into Lap 13 #44 Troesch found his shot for the lead and passed #39 Fisk putting him into second. But the #25 of Mertz was right there coming through as well, now with his sights on the leader. The #39 of Fisk dropped to third in the exchange with Antelope Acres #72 Terry Williams charging up to 4thspot.

Now with #44 Troesch leading the way, #25 Mertz and #39 Fisk would have good runs at our leader, but just wouldn’t come close enough to the #44 of Troesch to force a mistake. There were no mistakes, and this was just Troesch’s night claiming his 2ndbig win of the season. This also capped a big points night for Troesch winning the Heat Race earlier in the day as well, and gaining maximum points for the evening. The #72 of Williams posted his 2ndtop 5 and the #55 of Barnhart his 3rdtop 5 of 2018.

       1.) #44 Johnny Troesch

       2.) #25 Brady Mertz

       3.) #39 Brandon Fisk

       4.) #72 Terry Williams

       5.) #55 Jim Barnhart

       6.) #41 Corey Carter

       7.) #11 Rod Sproule

#25 Mertz maintains his points lead, but he’s now “hearing the footsteps” as multi-time Champion #44 Troesch knows exactly how use the momentum in his favor, now just 10 points back and closing.

Or, will the Dark Horse prevail and boot both of these leaders?  The #55 of Jim Barnhart, #11 of Rod Sproule, and #72 of Terry Williams are all hungry and looking for their first wins of the season.

It’s going to be a wild one this Saturday September 8thas the rookie Mertz goes up against the vet Troesch for the points lead.

                 THE PRESSURE IS ON!

The race day started off very well for Barstow’s #71 Tony Provenzano. He posted at the top not only as the fastest qualifier, but winning the heat race gaining valuable points on Blythe’s #30 Dwight Kelly for the 2018 Championship. #30 Kelly is still leading, but #71 Provenzano is closing, now within 4 points. This is all shaping up for a huge battle this Saturday September 8th!

But, let’s go back to June and review what was a big night for a different racer.

Palmdale’s #81 Kasey Parker was returning from a long layoff since the 2017 season. The day did not start well for him qualifying ¾ second off top qualifier #71 Provenzano, as they were struggling with the car throughout the day. #57 of Baxter conversely had a very solid qualifying effort in 2nd, just a ¼ second off the pace also finishing 2ndin the Heat Race earlier in the day. Baxter was looking for his first win of the year, but also needed a solid points night as well as he’s in the thick of the battle for the Championship.

A invert pull earlier in the day put the struggling #81 of Parker and #57 of Baxter side by side at the start. Coming to green, we were expecting quite a battle for the lead with the quicker #57 of Baxter outside. And it was, but with the inside line advantage it was just barely enough that #81 Parker ultimately won that particular battle. The goal now was to stay out front of the charging Baxter hungry for that first win. With the tough start of the day behind them, luck just might be changing for Parker.

After the heartbreaking loss back on June 8th, after leading for almost the entire race, Antelope Acres #71 Michael Williams was forced to retire early on Lap 4. Unfortunately, his troubles from the June 8thevent not entirely behind him, he’ll be back behind the wheel this Saturday. Oak Hills #35 Bruce Secord settled into behind Provenzano, as the race progressed past half way.

Meanwhile our point leaders, #30 of Kelly and #71t of Provenzano, were racing each other like it was championship night. #30 Kelly determined to stay out front of #71t Provenzano while Provenzano continually challenged for the position. Provenzano kept Kelly so busy neither noticed the leaders moving further and further away. Conversely, this was exactly what #57 Baxter and #81 of Parker needed.

#57 Baxter would take runs and close on the leader, but Parker and his team had definitely found the answer during the day. Every time #57 Baxter would close the gap, #81 Parker pulled away.

And yes, it was going to be the Cinderella ending we love in racing. The hard work by Parker and his crew paid off as #81 Kasey Parker captured his first ever win in a very emotional Victory Lane celebration with wife Tiffany and Family. #57 Jerry Baxter came away with a hard fought 2ndspot, and a big points night for him.

With Kelly and Provenzano just 4 tiny points apart, this is shaping up for a big September 8th“Platinum Jewelry & Loan” Street Stock race.

Now with his first win behind him, does Parker do it again? Does Baxter claim his first win? The track owes #71 Michael Williams a win, does he prevail?

ONLY at Willow Springs this Saturday September 8th!!

Beaumont’s #22 John Sereika continues to hold his 8 point lead over San Bernardino’s #42 Cary Cecil for the 2018 Championship. San Bernardino’s #04 Stanley Youngblood is just 2 points in back of Cecil in 3rdposition with San Bernardino’s #2 Joe Fernandez just behind 7 points away. Lancaster’s #19 Greg Didoha, our 2016 Lucas Oil Mini Stock Champion still has a shot to come back into the mix this Saturday.

BE THERE THIS SATURDAY to see the next chapter unfold!

The second of our two new permanent divisions are the 51Fifty Energy Drink Sport Compacts. We were looking for a middle step from So-Cal Enduro toward the upper divisions and the SC fits that bill perfectly. Still an extremely low budget division to run (cars complete can be built for right around $1,500), it’s a chance to run our full track without the chicane. We think it will be a quickly growing division with it’s higher speeds, yet still cost effective starting point for racers hitting the track for the first time.

And don’t forget….

Hot Stocks – A new division for dirt style cars out of Bakersfield, Perris, Ventura, Barona, and Santa Maria, many for their first ever time on asphalt. We keep reading about new cars coming to join the fun, add in the flavor of drivers who are used to racing on dirt, this is going to be one exciting division to enjoy in 2018!

INEX  –  We are very happy to announce we will be an INEX sanctioned track for the 2018 season. Both Legends and Bandolero’s can come earn National Points throughout the season. We are expecting a healthy turnout of Bando’s coming out of the Bakersfield area, and looking for some exciting racing from tomorrow’s future racing stars!

$4,000 to win So-Cal Enduro MOVED to November 10th!

National Enduro Event –  This is gonna be BIG! We are thrilled to announce a $4,000 to win 300 Lap Enduro scheduled for November 10th, 2018.

We are receiving calls from as far away as Washington for details on what is destined to be a landmark event for Willow Springs. Build a car for $1,000, race for $4,000. Racing doesn’t see math like that every day!…;). And, we are hoping those cars are added to our Enduro and Sport Compact divisions both before and after the 4K event adding to our competitor levels as an added bonus. We are starting as many cars as show up. If it’s 125, then all 125 start the race.

This is gonna be fun!
