IT’S TIME TO DESTROY SOME STUFF!……….RACE #6!!!

PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY vs. WILLOW SPRINGS

Destruction in the Desert 4 rolls out with a wild Figure 8, Demolition Cross (the object to destroy as much in your path as you can), and Boat Drags (the last car with a boat still attached WINS!)

Yes, it will be mayhem, madness, and non stop action as visiting teams from Perris Speedway match up against our Willow Springs regulars for big money at stake! They aren’t towing 3 hours to go home empty handed we assure you.

Will it be our Willow Springs teams like Johnny Troesch taking home the prizes, or the black hats coming in from out of town to take the glory back with them?

Nowhere other than Willow Springs this Saturday! You can’t miss this one!

POINT BATTLES STILL TIGHT WITH 3 TO GO!

Even after 5 races, we still are in tight points battles in almost all our regular stock car divisions. Elite, Street, and Hobby all have leaders with less than a 5 point lead. Anything can and will happen, and this is the gain the advantage, or go into October 7th even closer!

HOOPERS REAR ENDS “ELITE DIVISION”

Redlands Tony Forfa IV #34 came away with another win at our August event, and closes to within 5 points of Lancaster’s Logan Mainella #33 for the 2017 Hoopers Rear Ends Championship.

It’s the first time a Modified has come this close to a Championship in the division. Forfa definitely has the momentum going into Saturday night, and going for the Championship in not only the Elite class, but the Platinum Jewelry & Loan Street Stock class as well.

Either Forfa IV or Mainella will be your point leader coming out, who’s is it going to be?????

You can’t miss this one Saturday night!

August 12th Top 5 Results were….

1.) #34 Tony Forfa IV
2.) #33 Logan Mainella
3.) #05 Randy Wilkins
4.) #98 Chris Peedan

5.) #77 Alex Anderson

THE PLATINUM JEWELRY & LOAN “STREET STOCKS”

The battle still rages between Santa Clarita’s #25 Justin Good and Redland’s #34 Tony Forfa for the 2017 Platinum Jewelry & Loan Street Stock Championship. These two have traded wins (and paint) the past few events, were tied in points going into August. But, Forfa captured the win last time out, so Good will be looking for the comeback win this weekend. Look for more paint to be traded between these two this Saturday battling for our Championship.

2.) #25 Justin Good

3.) #57x Jerry Baxter

     MATCH RACE!

This has been simmering for quite awhile now between two of our Platinum Jewelry and Loan Street Stock drivers, and it came to a raging boil in June. Lancaster’s Jerry Baxter #57x vs Lancaster’s Ray Butler #57.

So, we came up with an idea to settle it.

Butler v. Baxter for the right to the #57! Much to our confusion, these two decided to switch numbers this year, with Baxter currently carrying the X and Butler the 57. (opposite from last season) Talk about confusion in Scoring!

And neither of them want the X on their number. So, we are going to settle this one ON the racetrack during our closing night October 21st.

Butler vs. Baxter in our two Demo Cars for the right to own the #57 for 2018 and beyond.
Or, based on the last race (again), they just might choose to settle it during the race this weekend? You’ll have to be there this Saturday, so you don’t want to miss this.

BE THERE!

THE “STERILE PROS” HOBBY STOCKS

“New Leader” as they say on the race radios in our always exciting Hobby Stock class. And the August race had excitement and then some with Quartz Hill’s #71 Michael Williams taking the lead in the points. Not even a first lap wreck that took out Williams could stop him. Good friend #11 Rod Sproule pulled over, offered him his car to race to stay in the points battle. Starting at the very back of the field after the driver change, Williams knifed his way through the field to a solid 2nd place finish in a car he had never driven before.

Bakersfields #44x Rick Childress was your winner, but a clean run by the young lady #24 Hannah Blalock for a solid third place slot.

There will be another brutal fight for the win this Saturday. Don’t miss it!

2.) #71/11 Michael Williams

3.) #24 Hannah Blalock
4.) #44 Johnny Troesch
5.) #48 Steven Parker

THE LUCAS OIL MINI STOCKS

Old friends returned to the Lucas Oil Mini Stock division in August as #86 Ryan Bragdon of Beaumont came to challenge our Willow Springs regulars. Returning to the field were #7 Nick Higginson, #76 Richard Connors, and dad #11 Dale Connors, all from Lancaster.

Bragdon wasn’t planning to come, but a last minute decision to repair to his car from a previous race turned out to be worth the time and long tow from Beaumont. Corona’s #42 Cary Cecil had a solid finish in second with point leader and current Champion Mojave’s #19 Greg Didoha finished third. The results had Cecil closing the gap a bit to Didoha with three races to go. Some good luck going Cecil’s way is what he will be looking for this weekend. Anything can happen!
1.) #86 Ryan Bragdon
2.) #42 Cary Cecil
3.) #19 Greg Didoha
4.) #76 Richard Connors
5.) #15 Robert Waters

Who is it going to be this week?
Don’t miss this Saturday!

51FIFTY ENERGY DRINK SPORT COMPACTS

The second of our two new permanent divisions are the 51Fifty Energy Drink Sport Compacts. We were looking for a middle step from So-Cal Enduro toward the upper divisions and the SC fits that bill perfectly. Still an extremely low budget division to run (cars complete can be built for right around $1,500), it’s a chance to run our full track without the chicane. We think it will be a quickly growing division with it’s higher speeds, yet still cost effective starting point for racers hitting the track for the first time.

Our 1/4 mile oval is part of the eight race tracks and 600 acres that make up Willow Springs International Raceway. Internationally recognized since 1953 as among the most prestigious in the World, and as of 1996, a California State Historical Landmark. Michael Andretti, Tommy Kendall, Derrick Cope, and Nigel Mansell all hold track records at the facility.

Here is a little more detail on two terrific features you cannot get anywhere else. Once you are in the front gates, your ticket is good for the entire weekend of racing for the road course events on the grounds, in addition to our Saturday night event. The 2.5 mile Fastest Road in the West which features dramatic elevation changes, and the infamous Turn 9 with speeds approaching 200 mph. The Streets of Willow Springs, and The Horse Thief Mile, also have events just about every weekend through the year. Hangout in the pits, talk with the drivers, and get some terrific pictures. Also, there is the WSIR gift shop and full snack bar open every weekend. Take a drive up to the Budweiser Balcony and enjoy an incredible view of the Antelope Valley as well.

The second feature of our 1/4 mile oval that you can not get just about anywhere else is Tail Gating. ($10 nominal charge per vehicle) Our guests can enjoy the action from the comfort of your car should you choose. Our prime spots are very limited, so get there early for the best locations. We also have a large amount of grandstand seating for the full experience as well with FREE parking.

Our Saturday Night divisions will feature the best stock car drivers in the region as they compete for the 2017 Championship. Get ready for some old school side by side stock car racing like it used to be. Full inverts, Restart Cone side by side yellow flag restarts, (where the drivers can pick inside or outside line). We are gonna change it up and have some fun!
One low price $10 ticket buys you an entire weekend of AWESOME racing action. There is racing all over the facility every weekend. Come early and enjoy the road courses, then come on up to us at the ¼ mile (North end of the property) for a full night of door slamming stock car racing action on our ¼ mile.
