Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse in Colton and San Dimas, and Guidos Pizza in Rosamond present Memorial Day Weekend racing at The Speedway at Willow Springs! As we race in their honor, we remember our US Service men and women lost defending our great Nation.

Green Flag is 6pm.

Late Models, Street Stocks, Hobby Stocks, Mini Stocks, Skid Plates, Gymkhana, 2nd to the Line Wins!, Spin to Win, Kids Big Wheel Races, Kids Kandy Scramble, Pizza Delivery Race, and much MORE

Chris Peedan capturing back to back wins extended his point lead on May 10th and looks to separate himself from the competition. But Randy Wilkins in a brand new car is showing some solid strength after winning the Heat Race and leading much of the main event last race. John Penning also continues in his quest for the Championship just a few points back, with Logan Mainella on his heels just one point behind.

DJ Jeffrey scored his first ever Street Stock main event win last race, and looks to repeat going into Saturday. Will Cottrell closed the gap on point leader Bobby Dezarov, and is now just 3 points behind. Will knows it will take Speed to win this championship, and once again he set fast time on May 10th gaining the most points on the night overall with his 2nd place finish in the Main Event. This was a WILD one on May10th with the leaders all bunched together for 20 laps of door slamming action. There is some bad blood after the last race, so expect to see some more intense action in the Streets.

Rich Connors posted his first win of the season in the Red, White and Blue 76 easily taking the main event. The 97 of Robert Heflin was chasing, but just ran out of time in his quest for another win. He settled for second, and walked away from the evening gaining another point over the competition in the Championship battle. The Dad of our winner, Dale Connors, came in third, and Steve Patterson (double nuts) finished out in fourth spot with Brian Paquin in 5th. The battle will be intense for the Championship as we approach mid-way in the season. Connors needs a big points night to keep up with Heflin. Will he do it? You have to be there to find out!!!

A big thank you to Lucas Oil for assisting us with this division.

Justin Quinn found out that even when bad luck hits, he still comes out ahead. While leading the 19x of Justin broke at the finish line technically crossing the line in 2nd. But the winning car was disqualified in post race inspection and Justin was awarded the win. Brandon Fisk was second, Shelby Oatley third, and Richard Wolfe Jr. with a solid 4th. This was another wild side by side race on May 10th as this field continues to grow. Every week we are adding more cars and are expecting some visiting cars from Bakersfield this weekend.

The sparks and body parts will be flying as our Skid Plate cars roll on for their Championship. Dale Connors again claimed victory on May 10th. Though starting from the very back in our full invert based on points, he patiently found his way to second place, then going for the win in a last lap pass for the checkers. Lots of spinning, banging, dodging, and sliding as our Skid Plates take to the track this weekend.

If you’ve seen X-games you already know what this is. If you haven’t, it’s basically a drag race obstacle course. Like drag racing, it is single elimination until there is a winner.

Dale Connors claimed the first ever Gymkhana win in a showdown against Hobby Stock driver Michael Williams.

This will be Open Competition, so a Skid Plate car could run against a Street Stock, but the Skid Plate may well have the advantage getting around the barrels fastest. We will be inviting some of the local Drifting teams to join the show as well in the near future.

Haven’t seen Spin to Win? You are about to, except make it DOUBLE! It’s only 3 laps, but you must Spin once per lap on both the front or back straightaways. (that makes it the “Double”)

Jon Carter won the first ever Spin to Win on May 10th and loves driving this event. We expect to see even more cars come out for this one.

Our flagman, former street stock racer Greg Benner, shook his head in disbelief when we described this to him. “So the winner doesn’t win”? We responded, “Yes Greg, exactly”. And yes, it’s not at all as easy as it sounds. And however you feel you need to make yourself second (I.e. push the leader) is fair game. Slam on the brakes at the finish, drive sideways, whatever it takes. Just come in second and don’t stop. If you stop, you are eliminated from the race. This will be for our Street, Hobby, and Mini stocks to strategize in the Extreme Events championship.

We will have our first ever kids Big Wheels race, a Kandy Scramble, Kids Dance Contest, and………

This is a new FIRST EVER for The Speedway at Willow Springs. And the kids will help with the pizza delivery. First down the grandstands, then to the cars. The drivers will take the hot pizzas for a spin, then the kids will race to see which team eats the pizza first. The winning team gets the stack of pizzas for their section. Thank you to Guidos Pizza in Rosamond for their support!

We would like to warmly welcome Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse, Budweiser, Wayne and Dave’s Automotive, Arena Homes, Hooper’s Rear Ends, Lucas Oil Products, Ron’s Rear Ends, and Deist Safety, as some of our new supporting sponsors for 2014. A big Thank You to All!!!

And my personal thank you to Ben Ryan at Deist Safety for the donation of a number of driving suits for our Skid Plate ride a longs and guest competitors. Thank you Ben!

This is a feature found at only a few race tracks in the entire Country. Throw your own personal party while watching the action at our ¼ mile for just $5 per vehicle. If you’d like a reserved Tail Gate spot for the season, they are only $80 for all 9 events. Arrive and leave when you please, the spot is yours on race days.

Have an RV? Stay the night for no extra charge (dry camp) and enjoy Sunday’s events as well. Hookups are available at the road course area for a small extra charge. Contact (661) 256-2471 for reservations.

Our 2014 season features nine events including First Ever……Destruction in the Desert on August 9th. We just added an Open Comp “free for all” for stock cars, and our Skid Plates will be going at it as well. Then we are going to absolutely DESTROY some stuff. We just came out of a planning session with a few of the teams out of Perris Speedway, and we are going to have some big time FUN!!!

Our 1/4 mile oval is part of the eight race tracks and 600 acres that make up Willow Springs International Raceway. Internationally recognized since 1953 as among the most prestigious in the World, and as of 1996, a California State Historical Landmark. Michael Andretti, Tommy Kendall, Derrick Cope, and Nigel Mansell all hold track records at the facility.

Here is a little more detail on two terrific features you cannot get anywhere else. Once you are in the front gates, your ticket is good for the entire weekend of racing for the road course events on the grounds, in addition to our Saturday night event. The 2.5 mile Fastest Road in the West which features dramatic elevation changes, and the infamous Turn 9 with speeds approaching 200 mph. The Streets of Willow Springs, and The Horse Thief Mile, also have events just about every weekend through the year. Hangout in the pits, talk with the drivers, and get some terrific pictures. Also, there is the WSIR gift shop and full snack bar open every weekend. Take a drive up to the Budweiser Balcony and enjoy an incredible view of the Antelope Valley as well.

The second feature of our 1/4 mile oval that you can not get just about anywhere else is Tail Gating. ($5 nominal charge per vehicle) Our guests can enjoy the action from the comfort of your car should you choose. Our prime spots are very limited, so get there early for the best locations. We also have a large amount of grandstand seating for the full experience as well with FREE parking.

Our Saturday Night divisions will feature the best stock car drivers in the region as they compete for the 2014 Championship. The 4 cylinder Mini-Stocks, The Hobby and Street Stocks, and our premier division Wayne and Dave’s Late Models will be charging hard for the 2014 Championship. We had a number of new teams at practice, come out to see how they stack-up against our seasoned veterans. Get ready for some old school side by side stock car racing like it used to be. Full inverts, Restart Cone side by side yellow flag restarts, (where the drivers can pick inside or outside line). We are gonna change it up and have some fun!

Other fun events are in the planning stages, and will be announced throughout the season.
